Professor Alice Hall Petry of the Rhode Island School of Design at Providence, RI will speak on "Cable, Twain, and The South." The author of numerous books and articles, Professor Petry's presentation will deal primarily with the join appearances of George Washington Cable and Mark Twain on the lecture platform as well as with their mutual interests such as Southern folklore, racial issues, and racial reform.
